Cathryn has been working in the area of criminal defence since joining Mickelson & Whysall in 2012 as a summer student, and was called to the bar in 2014. Cathryn has proven that she is a determined lawyer who has the confidence to take on challenging matters and win.
Cathryn’s caseload consists of motor vehicle offences, domestic assaults, drug charges, and theft offences. She has appeared in Provincial Courts across BC and the BC Supreme Court. She specializes in defending Immediate Roadside Prohibitions, where she has been successful in numerous hearings. Her successes include instances where the individual had provided “Fail” and “Warn” readings and in circumstances where individuals have refused or failed to provide breath samples. Cathryn has extensive knowledge of the successful defences for revoking Immediate Roadside Prohibitions. She understands how the Approved Screening Devices operate, and how they must be administered, and she can quickly identify police errors.
Cathryn is from Calgary, Alberta. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology at Mount Royal University before completing her law degree at the University of British Columbia.
